I was pleased this isn’t a hard luck memoir. It hails from my birth year and my beautifully-kept hardcover is the first edition! Combined with affection for Scotland, I was eager to be swept into Mabel Ethel Allan’s story. I have a knack for discovering gems memorable stories such as this. ![]()
